September 20, 2023

Andrea Ceccherini (President of the Osservatorio Permanente Giovani-Editori) hosts the founder and CEO of Snapchat Evan Spiegel for the inauguration of the 2023/2024 edition of "Il Quotidiano in Classe".

On September 20, 2023, Andrea Ceccherini, President of the Osservatorio Permanente Giovani-Editori (OPGE), announced the upcoming arrival of Evan Spiegel, the founder and CEO of Snapchat, in Italy.

The occasion for his visit will be the inauguration of the 2023/2024 edition of "Il Quotidiano in Classe," a media literacy project that involves 18 newspapers, including Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica, Il Sole 24 Ore, and others.

Andrea Ceccherini will be hosting Evan Spiegel as part of a series of events, called "An International Dialogue to Connect Young People to the Future", promoted by OPGE that in recent years has allowed students of Italian schools to meet some of the most important exponents of the world of hi-tech, publishing and the leaders of Silicon Valley: from Eric Schmidt (former executive chairman of Google) to James Murdoch (former CEO of Century Fox and News Corp) up to Jan Koum (co-founder of WhatsApp), Steve Jobs' widow, Laureen Powell Jobs (founder of Emerson Collective) and Tim Cook (CEO of Apple).

The event will be an opportunity for Italian upper secondary school students participating in the initiative to discuss with Evan Spiegel and Andrea Ceccherini about the challenges of social and digital media, and how to distinguish quality information from fake news, especially in the era of Artificial Intelligence.

Luciano Fontana, the director of Corriere della Sera, will conduct the debate.
